The first retirement and assisted living facility I had the opportunity to visit was the Concord Place based in Northlake IL. When it comes to assisted living communities, people can sometimes be apprehensive. Before my experience going there, I have had heard rumors of horror stories about the staff members and the facility, but one thing I can say for sure is that this place put all of those silly thoughts to rest. The first thing I would like to point out is that the facility as well as the grounds, which are very well kept, groomed, and welcoming. At the entrance of the facility, is the lobby, which looked like a five star hotel, with marble floors and walls and plants everywhere. With a fireplace, piano, and chairs and tables looked like they were brand new. I noticed that they have a workout room, which seems to be a rare commodity in assisted living facilities. However, seeing the workout room actually being used let me know that people can live a healthy life here if they want to. Therefore, this place is worth taking a look at.Upon my arrival, I was greeted by the coordinator of the facility and she was more than grateful to give me a private tour of Concord. She went over everything one could possibly need to know about retirement communities and retiring. It was refreshing to have someone so knowledgeable and comprehensive is there that can help new residents who are going through a very confusing and tough time.
They have everything a person would want, includes: a dedicated theater, bingo/craft room, test kitchen, card room with large screen TV, chapel, party/ballroom, swimming pool, year-round greenhouse, exercise room and a 30,000 square-foot living room with marvelous stone fire places. In addition, you’ll savor three meals daily in our elegant, gourmet dining room.Over 50,000 square feet of beautiful and comfortable living space. All of this combines with the security and confidence you’ll feel knowing that assistance is always available to help you meet the challenges of daily life. They provide additional assistance as the activities of daily living become more challenging. Their compassionate staff will help you with dressing, bathing, and grooming, getting around, medication reminders, and personal laundering.
Their costs for assisted living apartments are available at $2,958 per month with all exclusive. Concord recognizes that some older adults need more help with daily routines, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t lead active and vibrant lives. I believe the Assisted Living at Concord Place gives a new beginning of a new confident life for everyone that goes there. They prided themselves in creating a culture and atmosphere of comfort and love. They recognize that some older adults need more help with daily routines, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t lead active and vibrant lives. They encourageresidents to live an active life in their vibrant community and receive the exact amount of care you may need. I suppose the most important question is, would I send my own parents here if they needed it when their older? Honestly, I never ever thought about the idea about putting my parents into a nursing home because I think they are more active then, not to mention I’m a graduate student and trapped in my room all the time. Overall, yes, if my parents needed to go to a nursing home for extra assistance, I would choose Concord Place because it has everything to offer compared to a whole city that could offer a person to live happily, healthy, independently, and socially.

The secondretirement and assisted living facility I had the opportunity to visit was theVictory Centre of River Woods is an assisted living community in Melrose Park, Illinois. They are a long-term care Supportive Living facility for senior citizens 65 and older. The residents who live there do not require skilled nursing care. Although they are higher functioning and maintain a high level of independence, they are not a retirement community or independent senior apartments. Upon entering the gated entrance, the whole place looks humongous, like compared to a fortress. It was easy to believe that everybody would be well protected and comfortable within those surroundings. The residents of Victory Centre of River Woods enjoy privacy as well as the convenience and social interaction these common areas offer.Victory Centre of River Woods offers Illinois seniors the perfect balance of quiet, suburban retirement living and convenient access to all the attractions, amenities and services of a major metropolitan area. Their mission is to create a neighborly sense of community and comfortable lifestyle for the seniors who choose to call us home.
According to the coordinator that I spoke to, their 24 hours supervision and nursing care facility is marvelous, and interaction activities are very good for any family to consider. Meals are served in healthy and hygienic condition at common area where others can interact and socialize. According to a resident I spoke with, they state their satisfactory levels by genuinely and totally recommend this Victory Centre of River Woods to be best of its Assisted living class in this area. In my opinion, you simply just have to visit the place and discover the difference for yourself. For those with limited means, for example, their supportive living program provides financial assistance to those who quality That’s a benefit not offered at other assisted living communities, which often require those residents who are low on funds to move to a shared room in a nursing home.
Their supportive living services include three daily meals, weekly housekeeping and laundry services, medication management, numerous activities and trips, routine maintenance, wellness programs, and personal care if needed. The residents enjoy the privacy and comfort of spacious private studio apartments and have access to numerous common spaces such as a dining room, lounges, activity areas, and outdoor spaces. Moreover, all of this is provided for one flat monthly fee no tiered pricing, no upfront fees, therefore, no nickelanddiming.
The minimum monthly cost of financial assistance $2,650, which is based upon a resident’s annual income and their assets, financial assistance may be available. I think it’s neat that payments made to the Victory Centre are tax deductible as a medical expense. In most cases, the large portions can be deducted. They recommend the children of the residents to leave the work and worry of chores like lawn care, shoveling snow, cooking, housekeeping and maintenance to the Victory Centre of River Woods staff. In addition, the friendly certified nursing assistants help residents with personal care needs like bathing, dressing and reminders as needed. Victory Centre of River Woods makes life as comfortable as possible for the residents.
As I mentioned earlier, this was a fortress and a complete city within indoors. They complete services they offer: are the following: Assisted Living Services, Beauty/Barber Shop, Exercise Programs, Medication, Occupational Therapy, Personal Care Services, Physical Therapy, Podiatry Services, Scheduled Transportation, Speech Therapy, Wellness Program, Movie Library, On-site medical Clinic, Outdoor Grill, Outside Terrace and a Garden Patio.
In addition, the residents enjoy of a full schedule of social, educational and entertaining activities. Our structured program helps all residents maintain a high quality of life. Many of Victory Centre of River Woods activities encourage members to socialize and develop friendships with other residents. We make sure the activities include Art Classes, Arts and Crafts, Bingo, Birthday Club, Cooking Classes, Exercise Classes, Family Events, Gardening, Guest Speakers, and Presentations, Lectures, and Discussions, Live Guest Entertainment, Planned Leisure and Social Events, Planned Trips and Outings, Recreational Activities, Religious Activities, Resident and Family Meetings, and Wii – Fun Games. Would I send my parents do this place if I had to? I would have to no to this one because however, the environment both inside and outside were just impressive and quantity of services and quality of supportive caregiving is goes beyond the call of duty, however, the place reminds of a prison style place because of the 360 degrees of buildings and outside fences and secretary gates surrounding the place. I would like a place that has more wide-open spaces and a view of nature. Overall, between these two assistance-nursing facilities, in my opinion, I find Concord Place to be more appealing to the aging population within the area.
